Why we keep coming back to the Vlindertuin

We've loved Ameland for a long time. We've been visiting the Vlindertuin for five years now and have already spent six wonderful holidays here. At first we didn't know quite what to make of the name "Vlindertuin" (Butterfly Garden), but already at our first breakfast on the terrace it became clear: a real butterfly garden! There's no better way to describe this place. Whether it's spring, summer or autumn (and maybe even winter) - whenever possible, plants, flowers, fruits and herbs bloom and grow on the grounds. That attracts not only birds, insects and beautiful butterflies and gives them a home, but guests themselves also enjoy the facilities on site.

At the Vlindertuin, a conscious, sustainable lifestyle quietly runs through everything: solar panels, green roofs, informative info boards, or a shared pantry where guests can share leftover ingredients with each other instead of throwing them away - we appreciate and love all of this about the Vlindertuin! It feels almost natural that the value of nature and a more frugal lifestyle are so close by here, without giving up any comfort.

The apartments are stylishly and practically furnished. Those without their own sauna can easily book a time slot in one of the two shared saunas. The grounds also offer play activities for young and old, a playground, and a sun terrace with a barbecue and seating for everyone. The property is also nicely located, on the edge of the centre of Nes.

We are always welcomed here with kindness, appreciation and warmth. This place means not only relaxation and renewed energy to us, but also a sense of belonging - a feeling of home.
